The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accepted the Electoral Commission’s (EC) assurance to release an updated version of the 2024 Provisional Voters’ Register.

This follows a special Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on October 1, 2024, where concerns regarding the integrity of the current voters’ register were raised.

During the meeting, the EC admitted to several issues, including the illegal transfer of voters, erroneous additions to the transfer list, corrupted files in the register, and a vulnerable IT system susceptible to manipulation.

Despite these challenges, the EC promised to rectify the errors and provide political parties with an updated version of the voters’ register for further scrutiny within a week.

The NDC, while expressing concerns over the EC’s vulnerabilities, welcomed the decision to re-exhibit the updated voters’ register.

They recommended that the re-exhibition be conducted both online and offline to ensure wider access and transparency.

The party also called for a multi-stakeholder review of the EC’s IT system to prevent potential manipulation and safeguard the integrity of the December 7, 2024, elections.
