The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed Mahdi Jibril as Acting Director of Elections and Information Technology (IT), following deliberations and consensus at the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) meeting held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was formally communicated in a letter signed by the General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey. The NDC said the decision reflects Jibril’s experience, competence, and deep commitment to the party’s organisational objectives.
In his new role, Mahdi Jibril will oversee all activities related to elections management, electoral strategy, data systems and IT operations, and will work closely with the General Secretary, the FEC, the National Executive Committee and other relevant directorates to ensure the effective discharge of duties in line with the NDC Constitution and party regulations.
The General Secretary confirmed that the appointment is acting in nature and will remain in force until further notice. The party expressed confidence that Jibril’s leadership will strengthen the party’s electoral machinery and improve operational readiness ahead of both internal and national processes.
Jibril brings significant party experience to his new role. Prior to this appointment, he served as Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC, where he played a visible role in strategising and coordinating the party’s election-related communications and operations. During the 2024 general elections, he publicly highlighted the importance of strategic communication, including acknowledging the impact of senior party communicators in shaping public opinion and contributing to the party’s success at the polls.
