Delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been urged to elect competent executives who would devote their time and resources to the party in order to recapture political power in 2024.
Dr Lawrence Appiah, the founder of Diasporas Progressive Movement, explained in an interview with the Ghanaian Times at Goaso, the Ahafo regional capital on Sunday.
He stated that the leadership of the party received reports about the lukewarm attitude of some party executives and polling station agents in some constituencies which caused the NDC in the 2020 elections.
The founder indicated that it was clear some executives of the party were engaged with other businesses instead of supervising the electoral process at the polling and collation centers.
Mr Appiah noted that some parliamentary candidates (PCs) singlehandedly toured their constituencies during the 2020 electioneering campaign questioning the whereabouts of their constituency executives.
“It is clear that such persons would not help the NDC in the next general elections. Vote for industrious executives to lead the party to victory” he emphasised.
Mr Appiah who doubles as a political consultant said elections were won at the polling stations and not the court, adding that good leaders elected at all levels was an indication for victory for the party.
Mr Appiah entreated the delegates of the NDC to select executives who would make sure that all disputes were settled at the polling stations and not the collation centres.
He stressed that the new crop of executives should be able to reach the polling stations before the ballot boxes and other electoral materials arrive.
Mr Appiah entreated the delegates to reject candidates who offered money and other valuables to influence the voting process saying that such persons are not loyal and hardworking.
