Former President John Mahama has expressed his warm wishes to all candidates taking part in the NDC’s regional executive elections today, Saturday September 1.

According to Mr. Mahama, the enthusiasm and competitiveness in the election gives him hope in the future of the opposition party.

In a tweet Saturday Morning Mahama wrote: “Across all ten regions of the country, we’re today electing regional executive members for our party, the NDC. The competitive spirit & enthusiasm gives cause for confidence about the bright future of our party. I wish all aspirants goodluck. Remember, there are no losers”.

The National Democratic Congress is electing regional executives across the country.  It comes after the party elected its regional women organisers and youth leaders over the week.  Later in November the party will organise polls to elect its flagbearer and national executives for the next four years. The new leaders will supervise and lead the party into the 2020 elections against the ruling New Patriotic Party.

Already, about 11 individuals have declared their interest in contesting the flagbearership of the party including Mr. Mahama who led them in the 2016 elections. Other notable names in the contest are second deputy speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin and former trade minister Ekwow Spio-Gabrah.
