The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is expected to hold an emergency meeting tonight, Wednesday, 5 December 2018 to convey proposals of the Elders to the NEC.

The Council of Elders of the party has suggested to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party to slash the filing fee for flag bearer-aspirants by GHS100,000, ClassFMonline reports.

Should the proposal of the Elders be accepted by NEC, the flag bearer-aspirants would be paying GHS320,000 as nomination and filing fees instead of the initial GHS420,000.

Also, the Elders have suggested that the period for the picking of nomination forms should be extended to Saturday, 8 December 2018 while the presidential primary should be moved from 19 January 2019 to 26 January 2019.

Eight  aspirants eyeing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer position petitioned the party’s Council of Elders over the GHc20,000 and GHc 400,000 costs respectively for nomination forms and filing fees.

Alban Bagbin, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Joshua Alabi, Sylvester Mensah, Stephen Atubiga, Nurideen Iddrissu, Kojo Bonsu and Elikplim Agbemava, are the aspirants that petitioned the Council.

Mr Tanoh did not pick a nomination form by the end of the 5 pm deadline on Tuesday, 4 November 2018.

However, Prof Joshua Alabi, Mr Sylvester Mensah, and Mr Stephen Atubiga, who were either signatories to the petition or shared in the content of that document, picked their nominations forms nonetheless.
