All male flag bearer aspirants of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are expected to pay GHS 400,000 as filing fee while female flag bearer aspirants as well as persons with disability aspiring to the same position, are to pay GHS200,000.

The parliamentary aspirants are expected to pay GHS 20,000 as filing fees.

Female parliamentary aspirants will pay half of that.

The party took the decision at a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday, 29 November at the party’s headquarters in Accra.

So far, twelve people including former president John Dramani Mahama who has been tipped to win the flagbearership race have declared their intent to contest for the slot.

Others include Former Vice Chancellor of the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi, Nadowli Kaleo MP, Alban Bagbin, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah, Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah; a former Trade and Industry Minister; and Cape Coast South MP, and Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, Former Mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu.

Meanwhile, the NDC has slated December 19, 2019 for the election of its flagbearer for the 2020 presidential election.
