A former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Ken Dzirasah, says he is absolutely confident that the return of the former Presidential Candidate of the Reform Party, Augustus ‘Goosie’ Tanoh to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with the hope of leading them into 2020 general elections will be an exercise in futility.

According to him, the entry of Mr. Tanoh into the NDC’s presidential primaries scheduled for December 7, 2018, although laudable, he will be snubbed by the delegates.

Mr. Tanoh on Thursday, August 30, 2018, declared his interest in the flagbearership race of the NDC with the hope of revitalizing the umbrella family.

“I believe that a renewed and revitalized NDC will have the values, the organizational potentials and vision to lead Ghana to realize the dream of the Fourth Republic,” he told journalists who stormed the headquarters of the NDC to witness the submission of his letter of intent to the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

But the former Member of Parliament for South Tongu interacting with Bola Ray on Accra-based Starr FM, Wednesday, September 5, 2018, said Mr. Goosie Tanoh’s candidature will be very difficult to buy into, looking at his relationship with the NDC.

“Goosie is coming with some baggage. He had left the party, formed the Reformed Party and went and contested the election and there was the need to do a second round. Where he moved to was not the best”, he noted.

He added “You see, we do things and these things turn to hunt us. I think that is the biggest challenge he has but the Ghanaian has the capacity to forgive and forget – enormous capacity to forgive and forget otherwise …”.
