A Flagbearer hopeful of the main opposition NDC, Stephen Atubiga has talked with excessive pride and self-satisfaction about his achievements, possessions and abilities in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, he has made the NDC the most attractive party in the country now.

He explained the party(NDC) which became very unpopular before and after the 2016 elections is getting its fate restored again and stands a high chance of winning the next polls following his inclusion in the Presidential mix within the NDC.

“If you look at the party, I am the best choice right now. I have made NDC so attractive,” he said.

Stephen Atubiga has written to officially inform the leadership of the umbrella family of his intent to contest for the flagbearer position of the party.

Atubiga who has declared his intention to join the party`s (NDC) flagbearership race believes he is the right candidate the party needs to wrestle power from the ruling NPP government.

Already seven candidates are said to have declared their intention to contest, as directed by the party. Among the seven includes former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Mensah and former Vice Chancellor of the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Joshua Alabi, as well as former Trades Minister, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah.

Mr. Atubiga said, given the chance, he would make former President John Mahama his running mate and other bigwigs such as Prof. Alabi his special advisor.

“If I had the opportunity if the constitution allowed and the party structures allowed me, I would not mind making his Excellency John Dramani Mahama my running mate. Prof. Alabi will be a very good Special Advisor to me. Sylvester Mensah will be a very fine Foreign Affairs Minister. Bagbin who is my big brother, I’ve gotten close to him, he will be a very good speaker under my leadership and he will get to taste the presidency when myself and my vice have travelled.” he told Accra-based Citi FM.

Former President Mahama is expected to declare his intention to the party delegates ahead of the party’s presidential election.

Meanwhile, some party stalwarts, including Ambassador Victor Gbeho and former North Tongu legislator, Kenneth Dzirasah have thrown their weight behind the candidature of Prof. Joshua Alabi.
