National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the citizen to police the ballot boxes across the country, as voting nears closure.
This is to ensure vigilance and sanctity of ballots in the Monday's polls.
This came to light when directives were issued to the security personnel not to follow any ballot boxes by their superior officers.
At a emergency press briefing to inform the Ghanaian populace, the Director of Elections Hon. Elvis Afrieyie Ankrah called on the citizenry to rise up against any illegality to prevent any chaos aftermath the elections.
According to him, NDC has recorded some illegality in some constituencies including Suhum where machomen were been used by the ruling New Patriotic Party NPP in ballot stocking.
The Deputy Minister of the Interior, hon Henry Quartey who is also contesting as parliamentary candidate at the Ayawaso Central constituency has been caught in ballot box stocking according to the NDC.
The Director of Elections of the NDC Mr. Elvis Afriyie charged all NDC supporters to go back to the polling station to observe and protect their ballots since “the signs are clear the victory of the NDC is coming again".
He stressed that “Citizens of Ghana, follow the ballot boxes whether with motor bikes drones or what ever, follow the ballot boxes and protect your ballots”.
“…Citizens rise up and ensure that the right things are done. Be vigilant and observe the process of counting".
The Director of Elections who revealed how some ballot papers have been thump printed and stamped by some NPP members in the Ashanti region called on the polling agents to be extra vigilant including getting closer and authenticating whether the picture of the voter matches with her physical face”, Mr. Afriyie Ankrah fumed.
“Polling agents must be vigilant and make sure the registered number of ballots tally with the total ballot cast. Anything more or short of that don’t sign the pink sheet We've trained you already and so you know what to do”, he said.
“And …Please go and finish hard and protect the ballot.
Mr. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah also called on the people of the Volta region to finish hard by going to vote in the dire hours and stay over to observe and protect the ballots.
