The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for the Akim Oda constituency, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has stated that there is a spiritual orchestration behind the historic loss of the NPP in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to him, it is not normal for over two million supporters of the party in its strongholds to fail to show up to vote, and he, as an African man, is of the opinion that there is a spirituality behind the loss.
Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa TV on December 17, 2024, he stated, “This election is not something that you can analyze, and for me, I would say something is behind it.
“I am an African man, and mostly I used to say that we use power to get power, so in spite of all the voter apathy and everything, there is a spiritual orchestration because how come over 2 million of our people didn’t go out to vote?”
He continued, “How come? They have camped them in the room. This is Africa; you go to someone and ask him/her, won't you go out and vote? and the person will say no, for no reason.
“I personally went to a person and asked why she wouldn’t vote, and she said no reason…how come the NDC people did not lose interest in voting also?”
The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensa, on Monday, December 9, declared Mr. Mahama the winner, with a total of 6,328,397 votes. Dr. Bawumia received 4,657,304 votes.
Mahama's party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), achieved historic success by gaining a majority in Parliament.
According to the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, the party has so far won 185 parliamentary seats.
