Baba Sadiq of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been declared the MP-Elect for Okaikwei Central, following a contentious electoral process.

In the final results, Sadiq garnered 15,383 votes, defeating outgoing Member of Parliament Patrick Yaw Boamah, who received 14,949 votes from the 110 pink sheets in the constituency.

The declaration came after a dispute, with the incumbent initially proclaiming himself the winner.

This sparked unrest among opposition supporters, leading to the vandalism of materials at the coalition center.

A truce was eventually reached between the parties, and a recount of the pink sheets revealed that Baba Sadiq had indeed triumphed, securing his victory after eight years of attempting to win the seat.

However, 31 polling stations remain under contention, as the NDC alleges that the results from these stations were altered.

Despite this, it has been asserted that these discrepancies would not alter the final outcome of the election.

Sadiq's victory adds to the growing list of high-ranking NPP members who have lost their seats, including prominent figures like Dakoa Newman, Ursula Owusu, Henry Quartey, K.T. Hammond, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Ambrose Derry, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, and Andy Appiah-Kubi.
