‘Maestro’ politician, and General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia turns 62 today.

Also known by his ‘ring name’, General Mosquito, Mr. Nketia rose to prominence in 1988 when he contested the Wenchi District Assembly elections and won.

He was later nominated to the National Consultative Assembly set up to draw up the 1992 constitution where his performance earned him the title heavyweight.

He has also served as MP for Wenchi West constituency until 2004 when he stepped down.

General Mosquito’s decision to take a break from politics and join his wife abroad was thwarted when he was prevailed upon to take up his current position in the NDC.

Asiedu Nketia has remained a powerhouse in the NDC

He won the General Secretary position by almost 80% and has since held on to the position with overwhelming wins, the latest being his victory over his then deputy, Koku Anyidoho which he won by over 80%.

He has since led the party to two victories in 2008 and 2018 and a defeat in 2016. Source: myjoyonline.com
