Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide says the stance of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the Presidential Election results can never change the declaration made by the Electoral Commission (EC).

According to him, the Presidential Election results will never be overturned with the ugly noise of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) unless it is taken to the Supreme Court to decide in accordance with the law.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Mr Enam Hadzide said the President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo cannot hold up his lawful mandate to set up a transition team due to the loud shout and screaming of the opposition NDC in protest of the Presidential Election results.

“We are working with the law; Ghana is not a lawless country. It is not about who can shout the loudest or who is the strongest or who can scream that we have to listen; we are working according to the law," he stated.

“We are obeying what the law is saying and the law makes it clear that after the EC has declared the Presidential Election results, the President in power has the responsibility to name his transition team within 24 hours and we are following this law,” he noted.

With regard to the NDC protest, the Deputy Information Minister said that the Akufo-Addo led NPP government will continue with its constitutional mandate and pay attention to the business of the NDC that is now going to count its figures of the Presidential results after almost 2 weeks of declaration.

He, however, described the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) as an unserious political party for not being able to know its stance in the Presidential Election results within 12 hours of the close of polls.

“At least, within 24 hours, you should be able to know your stance in the election if you are a serious political party . . . those who are using almost 3 weeks, going from one office to the other looking for collated sheets to decide or know their stance in the election, it is their business,” he jabbed.

He reiterated that, “as for us, we are working in accordance with the law. In discussing the transition team, it is the duty of the state and so it does not matter whether you are NPP or NDC, we are working according to what the law stipulates”.

“We are not moved by the noise of the NDC; whatever the NDC is doing will not stop the laws of the country from working. We are a law-abiding government and so we are working with the directives of the law,” he noted.
