Biratnagar: Host Nepal defeated Sri Lanka 4-0 to reach the 2019 SAFF Women's Championship final at the Sahid Rangasala Stadium on Wednesday.

Nepal went on the offensive from the start but Sri Lanka put up a formidable defence to repel their rivals.

It took Nepal 42 minutes to break the deadlock with Punam Jargha Magar finding the back of the net, courtesy of captain Niru Thapa's assist.

Three-time runners-up in the tournament, Anita Basnet doubled their advantage in the 72nd minute with a powerful right-footed strike, before she turned provider nine minutes later for Sabitra Bhandari to head home and make it 3-0.

Anita earned another assist to her name three minutes later, when her forward pass found substitute Rekha Poudel and she made no mistake to end proceedings on a high.
