Newcastle United have re-entered the race to sign France international Christopher Nkunku, in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Nkunku, who arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2023 from RB Leipzig, has struggled to cement a regular starting role, particularly under new manager Enzo Maresca. The 27-year-old has now been made available for transfer, with Chelsea only open to a permanent sale.

Despite being contracted at Stamford Bridge until 2029, the Blues are keen to move him on before the window closes, ruling out any loan departure.

Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are also closely monitoring the forward’s situation, as interest builds across Europe.

Nkunku featured 48 times for Chelsea last season, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists. Though often deployed as an impact substitute, his pace and technical quality proved decisive in several key matches.

Capped 14 times by France, the versatile attacker is expected to make a decision on his future in the coming weeks, with Newcastle positioning themselves as serious contenders for his signature as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of another demanding Premier League and Champions League campaign.
