Ghanaian potent teenage striker Jerry Afriyie has joined newly-promoted Belgian Pro League side RAAL La Louvière on a season-long loan from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Qadsiah.

The 18-year-old, one of Ghana’s most exciting young prospects, heads to Belgium seeking regular first-team football after a breakthrough year with Ghana’s U-20s and a senior Black Stars debut. He wrote his name in the book of history as the first player in over a decade to be called up into the senior national team whist playing for a third-tier outfit in an AFCON qualifier in November 2024.

The former Thoughts FC striker did not need much time to make a name for himself as he scored on his senior debut for Ghana whilst playing for the U2o team as well. Afriyie's exploits gained international recognition as he got snapped up by Saudi Arabian side, Al Qadsiah as he joined the Saudi Pro League side from Ghanaian third tier side Thoughts FC. He was immediately loaned out to Spanish Primera Federacion outfit, CD Lugo, where he exhibited great potential through his abilities; pace, power and goal scoring prowess. He scored four goals and notched two assists in ten games for the Spanish club.

The Ghanaian international was reintegrated into the Al Qadsiah setup during preseason as he travelled with the club for their preseason camping where he teamed up with newly signed compatriot, Christopher Baah Bonsu.

La Louvière, who are back in the Belgian top tier for the first time in years, view Afriyie as a prospect to help them retain their stance in the top flight moving forward, and will count on his attacking spark to boost their survival bid. The season-long loan spell for the Ghanaian international also looks to hand him first team experiences for his development.
