The Nhyira Charities Foundation has once again demonstrated its commitment to humanitarian service by organising a special prison outreach program at the Manhyia Local Prison on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025.
The outreach, held as part of the Foundation’s annual Christmas activities, aimed at restoring hope, dignity, and a sense of belonging among inmates during a season often marked by loneliness and separation from family.

A total of 264 inmates benefited from a shared Christmas dinner, as members and volunteers of the Foundation sat with them, exchanged warm conversations, and offered words of encouragement. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude, smiles, and a reminder that compassion can reach even the most forgotten corners of society.

In addition to the dinner, the Foundation organized a free eye screening exercise for inmates in collaboration with eye care professionals. Inmates received professional eye examinations, free eye drops, and prescription eyeglasses where needed. The initiative addressed critical eye health needs, improving comfort and quality of life for many beneficiaries.

The outreach also included the donation of essential items to support the welfare of inmates and assist the prison administration in meeting daily needs. These donations were warmly received and described as timely and impactful.

Speaking during the visit in the absence of the President, the Acting President of Nhyira Charities Foundation, Mr Gideon Brobbey, emphasized the importance of extending love and care to vulnerable populations, particularly during festive seasons. “Christmas is about sharing love and reminding people that they matter, no matter their circumstances,” one volunteer noted.

Officials of the Manhyia Local Prison expressed appreciation to the Foundation for its consistent support and for choosing to spend Christmas Day with inmates, describing the initiative as both thoughtful and uplifting.

The Christmas outreach forms part of Nhyira Charities Foundation’s broader mission to promote social inclusion, healthcare access, and human dignity through community-focused interventions. The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to continuing prison outreach programs and other humanitarian initiatives across the country.
