The National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) to suspend any planned industrial action as efforts continue to resolve a dispute with the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the NLC confirmed receipt of GAUA’s petition concerning GTEC’s alleged failure to comply with an earlier ruling.

The Commission referred both parties to its prior directive dated June 9, which instructed them to engage in dialogue to resolve the matter.

A deadline of July 9 has been set for both sides to report the outcome of those engagements.
“The Union is therefore directed to refrain from any intended action since parties are scheduled to appear before the Commission on 9th July, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. for reporting,” the statement stated."

GTEC has also been ordered to respond formally to the allegations of non-compliance by close of business on Friday, June 27.

If the Commission’s directives have already been implemented, GTEC must submit evidence to support that claim.
