Media advocacy organization, United Press for Development Network (UPDN) has issued a statement drawing the attention of the National Executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to offer adequate security and protection for media persons who will attend the party’s National Delegates Conference this Saturday 17th November, 2018.

The statement, signed by the group's convener, Kofi Asante Mensah, says assault and brutalities meted out to journalists in their line of duties is unaccepted and should be condemned by all.

It therefore urged the NDC to offer adequate security to all media personnel who will be at the conference grounds on Saturday.

It also encouraged all journalists to to be circumspect in their reportage.

​ NDC NATIONAL DELEGATES CONFERENCE: OFFER MEDIA ADEQUATE SECURITY AND PROTECTION​

On the occasion of NDC National Delegates Congress slated for Saturday November 17, 2018, United Press for Development Network is by this Press Release requesting and urging the said party to offer adequate protection for all Media Persons.

This has become imperative reason been that, recent assaults and brutality meted out to media practitioners by even Police and Military Officers, Politicians and Party sympathizers is to say the least outrageous, scandalous, shameful and disgraceful to a country that has been ranked first in press freedom in Africa by Journalists Without Borders.

United Press for Development Network (UPDN) wish to remind the HONORABLE MINISTER OF INFORMATION been KOJO OPPONG NKRUMAH that we are not only waiting for a meeting with him but a deliberate and comprehensive approach in curbing this menace as stipulated in our recent petition written to him.

We hereby encourage the media to be circumspect in their news reportage so as to ensure a violence free democratic event.
