Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Ernest Poku has revealed he is yet to receive any official approach from the Ghana Football Association, despite growing speculation over a potential switch to represent the Black Stars.
The 22-year-old, who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen, said he has been contacted by multiple individuals claiming to represent Ghana’s football authorities but has chosen to ignore such approaches.
“I did hear some things from Ghana, but that's fifteen people who message me and say they work there. In the end, you don't know what to believe,” he told Dutch outlet Sportnieuws.
Poku added that he has instructed intermediaries to stop contacting him directly, insisting that any formal communication should be handled through his agent.
“I have indicated that they should not communicate with me. If so, I'll hear it from my agent,” he said.
The forward, who has represented the Netherlands at youth level and earned more than 25 caps, remains eligible to play for Ghana, the Netherlands, or Germany at senior level.
Since completing a reported €12 million move from AZ Alkmaar last summer, Poku has continued his development in the Bundesliga, contributing five goals and seven assists this season.
Despite his strong cultural ties to Ghana, including fluency in Twi, he says no decision has been made regarding his international future.
“Netherlands, Ghana and Germany are also options, but I haven't heard from all three yet. I can only wait,” he added.
Poku is among a growing number of dual-national players attracting interest as the Black Stars look to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
