An early goal from Tariqe Fosu wasn’t enough to clinch points for Northampton Town, as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Lincoln City in their latest League One encounter.

Fosu made an immediate impact, scoring just two minutes into the game with a powerful strike to the center of the net after a well-placed assist from Tyler Roberts.

The goal, Fosu's third of the season, temporarily put Northampton in the lead. However, Lincoln City quickly responded in the 18th minute when Tom Hamer leveled the score, converting from close range after a well-executed corner by Reeco Hackett.

The game took a challenging turn for Northampton in the 75th minute as Tyler Roberts was shown a second yellow card, reducing them to ten men.

Lincoln City seized the opportunity, breaking through in the 88th minute when Erik Ring connected with a cross from Jovon Makama, sending the ball into the top left corner to secure the victory.

Lincoln City’s late dominance, with 52% possession and twelve shots, ultimately paid off.

Northampton Town will now shift focus to their upcoming FA Cup match against Kettering Town, hoping to rebound from this close defeat.
