Tamale City suffered their second consecutive defeat of the season, falling 2-0 to city rivals Northern City at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Friday.

Osman Zakaria opened the scoring in the 37th minute before Mumin Awal sealed the victory with a second goal in the 73rd minute.

This latest loss leaves Tamale City in second place in the Zone One A standings with 25 points, trailing league leaders Real Tamale United after back-to-back defeats.

In Zone One B, former Premier League side Bofoakwa Tano continued their struggles in the 2024/25 Access Bank Division One League, losing 2-1 to Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Ohene Ameyaw Park.

Solomon Adu gave Bofoakwa Tano an early lead from the penalty spot in the 7th minute, but Eleven Wonders responded swiftly through Frank Awere's equalizer in the 12th minute.

Bismarck Gyan secured a dramatic stoppage-time winner for Eleven Wonders, further compounding Bofoakwa Tano’s woes.

Meanwhile, Real Tamale United delivered a statement performance on Sunday, demolishing newly promoted Walewale Catholic Stars 7-1 to claim top spot in Zone One A.

Kwame Suklu gave Walewale Catholic Stars an early lead in the 13th minute, but RTU roared back with a commanding display.

Mutala Mohammed and Taufik Hardi scored in the 28th and 43rd minutes, respectively, to give RTU a halftime lead.

Abdulai Abdul Rashid added a third goal in the 54th minute, followed by Blabala Bamon’s 74th-minute strike.

Wisdom Manyina Jonas added to the tally in the 88th minute, and late goals from Musah Alhassan and Abdul Kudus Nurudeen in stoppage time completed the rout.

RTU now leads Zone One A with 28 points, three points ahead of second-placed Tamale City, as the Northern giants reaffirm their dominance in the division.
