The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expelled 280 members in the Agona West constituency of the Central region.

The move according to the party is in accordance with Article 3(9)(1) of the
Party’s Constitution (2017) as amended.

This decision was made unanimously at the Expanded Constituency Executive Committee meeting held on Sunday, 15th December 2024.

The composition of the meeting comprised, Constituency officers, Municipal Chief Executive, Constituency Founding Members, Current and Former Council of Elders and
Patrons, Constituency Disciplinary Committee members, and Electoral Area Coordinators of the party in Agona West.

A statement signed by the constituency Chairman, Alhaji Gibrine Tanko explained that, several complaints were received from other party members against the said persons for anti-party misconduct.

These included standing as an independent candidate against the NPP’s officially elected 2024 parliamentary candidate, joining or declaring their support for another political party, supporting an independent candidate in the just-ended December 7, 2024, parliamentary election in the constituency and continuously demonstrating such character against the party in every election year.

The affected persons include polling station chairmen, women and youth organisers, among other party members.
