National Youth Organiser hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has dismissed assertions that, should he win the Youth Organiser race, there will be a possible conflict of interest with his current position at the National Service Scheme.

Ahead of the NPP’s National Delegates Conference to elect new executives, several people have raised concerns on the possible conflict of interest with regards to the holding of both national and partisan office by one person.

The general fear is that, once he rises to the Youth Organiser position, combined with his current position, his services will now be limited to only people of the NPP stock.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Monday however, Nana B, as he is affectionately called, discarded the assertion out rightly, as in his view the claim does not hold water.

“Once am a party person, His Excellency the President appointed me as the deputy executive director, and nothing stops me from standing for a position to also help my party, so for all that question although legitimate, but for me it’s nothing because am a party stalwart” he told host Richard Sky.

According to him, because he finds himself as the best material suitable for the position of Youth Organiser for the NPP, also considering the qualities and experiences he brings on board, nothing will stop him from going all out for victory and also ensure another massive victory in election 2020.

He also stated that, the constitution of the NPP does not prevent anyone from contesting any leadership position in the party, even if the person has been given a national appointment. But he has debunked that assertion, describing it as illegitimate.

“The constitution of the party is clear; it does not prevent government appointees from contesting for party positions, I know of several people in the NPP who have been appointed by government and also hold party positions” he said.

However, he refused to comment about whether of course, he plans to resign as the deputy Executive Director of the NSS after his election as the new Youth Organiser in the upcoming elections.
