The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has promised it is putting up measures to nip any acts of violence in the party's internal activities, in avoidance of future occurrences.

The comment comes at the heel of an attack by the NPP’s vigilante group, the Delta Force, on the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tafo Pankrono Constituency, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei during a meeting with members and executives of his constituency.

A statement released by the party and signed by its National Organizer, Sammy Awuku threw a stern waning to any group of persons who might be harbouring any of such intentions to advise themselves, since according to the party, it will not tolerate such behavior and will cooperate with the Police as always in executing its duties.

Sammy Awuku in making the call, also urged the security agencies to hasten investigations into the latest incident and deal decisively with with the culprits.

Press Release

NPP CONDEMNS THE DISRUPTION OF TAFO- PANKRONO CONSTITUENCY MEETING

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) strongly condemns the violent disruption of a meeting between the Member of Parliament for Tafo-Pankrono, Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei and his constituents on Sunday, October 7, 2018.
The action of the young men is highly unacceptable, unjustifiable and unfortunate regardless of their reasons.
The use of force and violence particularly in internal party matters, is alien to the tenets of the New Patriotic Party and should have no place among us, especially under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who has been a strong advocate of the rule of law.
We call on the security agencies to deal decisively with this case without fear or favour.
The party is equally putting in measures to ensure that we nip these acts of violence in our internal party activities, in the bud.
We warn any group of persons who might be harbouring any of such intentions to advise themselves, since the party will not tolerate such behavior and will cooperate with the Police as we have always done.
We would again entreat our party members and supporters to at all times resort to laid down internal structures and procedures in seeking redress for their grievances and concerns.

Signed

Sammy Awuku
(National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party)
