The Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh, has indicated that the Nsumia disposal landfill site, located in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, will soon be converted into energy.

He said the landfill site located off the Accra Nsawam highway is posing health hazards to human life in the area.

According to him, as the world is moving towards clean energy power, factories within the constituency should not be underperforming due to lack of sufficient energy.

He disclosed that his outfit had already secured investors to set up a plant that would turn the refuse into clean energy.

The Nsumia disposal site is about 680,000 cubic meters, making it one of the biggest to have served the residents of Accra and its surrounding areas.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Nano foods Limited in Nsawam over the weekend Hon. Annoh-Dompreh explained revealed that he had met with the German Ambassador to Ghana, HE. Christoph Retziaff to discuss the conversion of the waste into the energy power plant to treat urban solid waste in the area.

According to him, he was part of a delegation that was in Germany to ensure that a plant would be set up to turn to waste into clean energy.

“The experts from Germany told me they’ve started something in Kumasi and they are looking up to build 10 centers across Ghana. So I came to loby so that they help curtail the landfill site polluting the environment in Nsawan,’’ he said.

He also hinted that a brewery factory currently under construction will soon be commissioned at Nsawam.

He urged the youth and the people of Nsawam Adoagyiri to exercise restraint as he is committed to providing more jobs in the area.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia commended the MP for being instrumental in establishment of the NANO Company under the 1D1F.
