The Jasikan College of Education (Jasico) on Friday November 15, 2019 began their Annual Inter Hall Sports with Fresher’s Games at the College campus in Jasikan in the Oti Region.

The Fresher’s Games which will end on Sunday, November 17, include Soccer, Handball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Netball, and Basketball for both Men and Women.

The 3-day Fresher’s Games which began on Friday afternoon and will continue with Main Hall Games from Friday, 22nd to Sunday, 24th November, is being battled among 3 Halls; Harker, Asamoah and Brantuo.

In an interview with TalksenseSports, Otis Dzodzi Ahorsey, who is the Sports Committee Secretary for the College reveals the need for the Freshers Games before the Main Hall Games.

“The Fresher’s Games is to give opportunity to the new students to showcase their talents, so that they will be selected to participate in the Main Hall Games. If we don’t organize the Fresher’s games, the seniors wouldn’t know the potential players fit for the various disciplines for their Halls.”, Mr. Dodzi said.

Meanwhile with some Games done on day 2, Brantuo Hall has emerged winners of the Handball Women, with Harker and Asamoah finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

In Netball, Harker proved stronger than the other two, to place 1st while Brantuo and Asamoah followed in that order.

It was Brantuo, who clinched another Gold medal feat in the Men Volleyball while Asamoah managed the Silver medal and Harker placing 3rd, the first time in the 3 Games finished so far.

The Annual Inter Hall Sports will be climaxed with Athletics & Cross Country from Wednesday, November 27, through to Saturday, November 30, 2019.

The purpose of the Inter Hall Sports program is to select athletes for the Volti Zone, whose Inter College Games comes off at Dambai in April 2020.
