The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in the Eastern Region has donated relief items to the flood victims of Ayermersu-Kperti community in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The residents in the farming community were affected in October during a heavy rainstorm which destroyed properties and farm produce in the area.

The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Samuel Ayertery, and the MCE for the area, Simeon Tetteh on Tuesday visited the community to support the victims with some relief items.

They presented rice, student mattresses, blankets, second-hand clothes, mosquito nets, coils, rubber buckets and cups, soaps, detergents, poly mats, roofing sheets, nails among others.

Speaking after the presentation, the MCE, Simeon Tetteh said: “We made a promise to the victims that we would come and support them with a few items to help them get back to their feet so that is why we came here to present the items to them.

He said the community lacks road and school, adding that in as much as "we are supporting them, we also want them to be well educated and informed about their environment in order for us to be able to avoid these disasters. I want to assure them that very soon we shall construct the deplorable road and also built school blocking for them".

The leadership of the community who received the items on behalf of the affected residents expressed gratitude to the government for the kind gesture.
