The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced a temporary traffic diversion on the N6 dual carriageway as contractors commence critical asphalt works on the Ofankor–Nsawam stretch.
In a public notice issued on Sunday, December 7, 2025, the Ministry stated that the main carriageway from Ofankor to White House will be closed to motorists from Monday, December 8, to Sunday, December 14, 2025.
The closure is necessary to allow contractors to lay asphalt on a two-kilometre section of the highway as part of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Ofankor–Nsawam dual carriageway. Preparatory works carried out over the weekend at Ofankor required a short shutdown on Saturday night to pave the way for this next phase.
During the closure, all traffic will be diverted onto the Service Road, stretching from the Ofankor Overpass to White House. The Ministry assured drivers that directional signage will be in place and urged compliance with traffic instructions to reduce congestion and ensure safety.
“We appreciate your support during the road closure at Neoplan on December 6, 2025, and seek your continued cooperation,” the Ministry stated, expressing regret for any inconvenience caused to road users.
The Ofankor–Nsawam road rehabilitation is part of a broader national highway upgrade project aimed at improving mobility, cutting travel time, and boosting economic activity along the busy Accra–Kumasi corridor.
