The Central Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one person on suspicion of being involved in the murder of the headmaster of Ansapatu Basic School near Effutu.
DSP Irene Oppong, the Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, told the Daily Guide that the suspect (named withheld by the police) is in their custody assisting with their investigations.
The headmaster, identified as Yaw Ayifah Gorman, 40 years, was shot in his car after he had returned from a training programme on Population Census in front of his house at Cape Coast last Saturday night by unknown gunmen.
The deceased, popularly known as Dr Sting, according to co-tenants was about moving out of the car when the assassins shot him through the driver’s side glass.
Residents claim they were in their various rooms when they heard the gunshots sound but initially thought it was the sound of a knockout.
“We later heard his wife shout for help and when we came out, we saw our colleague sitting motionless in his car,” the neighbours narrated to the media.
The co-tenants said they rushed the victim to the cape coast hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.
