Police in Kadjebi, Oti Region, have re-arrested one of two suspects who broke out of custody at the Kadjebi Police Station on Saturday afternoon.

The second escapee is still on the run, with the Police Command placing a GH₵2,000 bounty on information leading to his capture.

According to Superintendent Frank Nana Asomaning, the Kadjebi District Police Commander, the suspects took advantage of a lone female officer on duty, broke the cell door, assaulted her, and fled.

The officer, identified as L/Cpl. Gyapong, sustained severe injuries during the attack and is receiving treatment at St. Mary Theresa Catholic Hospital in Dodi-Papase. She is said to be responding well to treatment.

One of the suspects was re-arrested on Sunday, September 21, and is back in custody. Police say intensive efforts are underway to track down the other escapee.

Superintendent Asomaning appealed for public support in providing credible information to aid the manhunt, while assuring residents that investigations into the jailbreak have commenced.
