One person has been hospitalised after a fire gutted a four-bedroom house at Aboabo Number 2 in the Asokore Mampong Municipality on Wednesday, November 27, 2025.

The blaze is believed to have started around 6:30 p.m. Assembly Member for the area, Haruna Abdul Rashid, said he was alerted by a phone call from a stranger. He said several young men in the community attempted to contain the fire, but one of them was electrocuted during the effort. The injured volunteer is receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

According to the Assembly Member, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) quickly disconnected power by switching off the transformer serving the affected house to avert further danger. ECG technicians were later seen working on the lines to restore electricity to neighbouring homes.

He added that the affected family has been advised to wait for a full assessment on Thursday before re-entering the property.
