Organisers of the Unifest Concert held at the Takoradi Mall Event Centre, have offered an explanation for the delayed performance of award-winning artist Black Sherif, which led to fans pelting him with water on stage.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, June 22, sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many criticising the artist for showing up late to perform.
According to event organisers, the delay was due to a disagreement between Black Sherif’s team and organisers over payment and stage setup.
Speaking to the media, one of the organisers, Mutombo, revealed that Black Sherif's team had initially agreed to perform for GH₵300,000 but later demanded an additional GH₵50,000 before taking the stage.
"We paid this guy GH₵300,000 and he refused to mount the stage. They were asking for an extra GH₵50,000 and for an hour, they kept deliberating on this extra money," he said.
Another organiser, known as YB, added that the artist’s team also raised concerns about the quality of the stage setup, claiming it did not meet their standards.
"They have their standard and the stage didn't meet it. They made several complaints. I didn't include production details in the contract though. Still the management wasn't satisfied with the setup," he explained.
