Ghana head coach Otto Addo remains optimistic about leading the Black Stars to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), despite recent setbacks in their qualifying campaign.

Following a 0-0 draw and a 2-0 defeat to Sudan in their doubleheader, Ghana’s qualification path is uncertain, but Addo is confident that the team still has a realistic chance.

Speaking to the Ghana FA’s media team, Addo emphasized that the team’s AFCON hopes are far from over. "It’s not over yet.

Mathematically, there’s still a chance, and we will do everything in our hands to keep this chance alive," he affirmed.

Reflecting on the overall performance in the qualifiers, Addo highlighted the need to capitalize on home games and maintain discipline in both attack and defense.

"When I reflect, it’s not just about this game, but also our general approach. You have to win your home games.

The passion and discipline, both defensively and offensively, were there, but we just didn’t execute," he noted.

Addo also expressed frustration over missed opportunities, particularly in Ghana’s matches against Angola and Sudan.

"We surely deserved to win against Angola, and also the last one against Sudan," he remarked, attributing the results to tactical challenges.

Currently, Ghana is third in Group F, trailing second-placed Sudan by five points and group leaders Angola by seven.

Despite the difficulties, Addo and his squad remain determined to turn things around and secure qualification for AFCON 2025.
