Black Stars head coach Otto Addo was present to support Ghanaian forward Mohammed Fuseini Gadafi following his successful ankle surgery on Thursday.
The injury setback ruled Gadafi out of Royal Union Saint-Gilloise’s UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday, where the Belgian side secured an impressive 3-1 away victory over PSV Eindhoven, marking their debut in the competition on a high note.
Gadafi, who is one of seven Ghanaian players whose clubs have qualified for the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League competition, has been a rising influence at Union SG this season and will now focus on recovery and rehabilitation in the coming weeks as he has already featured in only two Belgium Pro League games for the reigning champions, grabbing minutes against Anderlecht and Standard Liege where they recorded victories in both games.
His club will be hoping to have him back shortly as they continue in the stride of playing in the UEFA Champions League for the first time ever.
The 23-year-old enterprising winger took to the internet to announce the outcome of his surgery as he prepares for weeks of recuperation as he was pictured in the photo with the Black Stars head coach:
"Alhamdulillah, my surgery went well; thank you all for the support and prayers."
Gadafi marked his Black Stars debut during the Unity Games in May 2025 featuring in the games against Nigeria and Trinidad. He grabbed his first Black Stars goal in the third place play off against Trinidad where Ghana won 4-0 against the Caribbean nation.
Coach Addo’s visit highlights the national team’s continued support for the striker, whose progress is being closely monitored by the Black Stars’ technical team.
