The Asantehene, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is set to host the King of Eswatini, His Majesty King Mswati III, in Ghana from June 24 to June 28, 2025, in a landmark visit that promises to strengthen cultural and diplomatic ties between the Asante Kingdom and the Kingdom of Eswatini.

This visit is a reciprocation of Otumfuo’s earlier trip to Eswatini and continues a tradition of mutual respect and friendship between the two African monarchs.

The announcement was first hinted at during a 2024 visit by emissaries from Eswatini to the Manhyia Palace, where they confirmed King Mswati III’s intention to visit Asanteman.

A large billboard at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi currently heralds the upcoming visit, displaying portraits of both royal figures alongside the national flags of Ghana and Eswatini — symbolizing the unity and cultural pride the visit represents.

While the official itinerary is yet to be released, a grand cultural durbar is expected to be held at the Manhyia Palace to formally welcome King Mswati III.

Additional events and durbars are also anticipated during the five-day visit, celebrating the enduring bond between two of Africa’s most iconic royal institutions.

The visit marks a significant chapter in pan-African royal relations, reflecting a shared commitment to cultural preservation, diplomacy, and unity among traditional leadership across the continent.
