Award-winning Ghanaian musician, Kofi Kinaata, says Kumasi has become a major support base for his music, following a public endorsement from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
In an interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, Kinaata revealed that the royal acknowledgment has significantly boosted his career, leading to increased streaming figures, social media engagement, and corporate bookings.
“Kumasi is becoming a hotspot for me, especially since the endorsement came. The endorsement did a lot for me. It brought in some corporate shows, and my numbers also increased,” he said.
The endorsement came in September 2024, when Otumfuo Osei Tutu II publicly praised Kinaata’s hit song Susuka during a Ghana Bar Association event. The Asantehene highlighted the track’s powerful message on gratitude and contentment, using it as an example to promote appreciation for local music and values.
Kinaata, who recently performed at Sarkodie’s Rapperholic: The Homecoming Edition at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, continues to receive strong support from fans in the Ashanti Region following the royal endorsement.
