Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has boldly claimed his side were the best team in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, despite finishing outside the top four.

The Phobians concluded their campaign with a fourth consecutive victory, defeating newly crowned champions Samartex 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The result saw Hearts finish level on 58 points with rivals Asante Kotoko, but a head-to-head disadvantage kept them out of the top four.

Reflecting on the season, Ouattara praised the transformation and resilience of his squad, highlighting their progress from early struggles to a strong finish.

“Hearts of Oak were the best team in the 2024/25 season because we came from behind,” he stated. “We managed 58 points, just five behind the champions. We started the season with unknown players. Today, they are stars.”

Despite the impressive turnaround, Ouattara's future with the club is uncertain. Reports suggest former Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu is being considered to replace him.

As Hearts prepare for another title push next season, it remains to be seen whether the Ivorian coach who revitalized the team will still be at the helm.
