A statement from the Ministry of Information today June 12, 2019 confirmed that the two Canadian ladies who were kidnapped in the Ashanti Region have been rescued.
The aid workers Lauren Patricia Catherine Tilley, 19, and Bailey Jordan Chitly, 20, were rescued last night in Sawaba, a suburb of Kumasi.
A statement from the Ministry of Information which confirmed the news did not give details about the operation that led to the girls being found.
The news has however sparked outrage from Ghanaian social media users who are questioning the delay in rescuing the 3 missing Ghanaian girls who were kidnapped in Takoradi in August 2018.
The three ladies include 18-year-old Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, last seen on 21 December 2018; 21-year-old Priscilla Blessing Bentum, last seen on 17 August 2018; and 18-year-old Ruth Love Quayson, last seen on 4 December 2018.

I'm happy but shocked to hear the Canadian girls have been found just few days after security experts from Canada came to assist.
They were found in the same Kumasi where the Ghana Police Service has been gathering their intelligence.#BringBackOurTaadiGirls#PoliceMustSitUp
