The Ministry of Education has confirmed the delivery of over 3,000 mono desks to Labone Senior High School in Accra on Monday, November 24, addressing a shortage that had forced newly enrolled Form One students to sit on the floor or use dining hall benches as temporary classroom furniture.
In a statement, the Ministry said Labone SHS formally requested 3,282 mono desks through the Ghana Education Service (GES). The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) approved and allocated the full quantity, with delivery completed by the close of Monday, November 24, 2025.
The move is part of a nationwide initiative to provide 200,000 mono desks to 100 senior high schools transitioning from the double-track to the single-track system. The programme is designed to systematically close furniture gaps across second-cycle institutions.
The Ministry reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that all students learn in safe, supportive, and conducive environments. It pledged continued collaboration with GES, GETFund, and other partners to provide the infrastructure needed to enhance teaching and learning nationwide.
