Human Rights activist and Former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur has eulogized the immediate past Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei following her removal from office by President Akufo-Addo. 

According to the renowned Human Rights Lawyer, the legacy of Charlotte Osei as Ghana's first female Electoral Commissioner remains unmatched despite her removal from office.

In a consolatory message to the former EC Boss on social media moments ago on social media, NanaOye Lithur said: “You still remain our most erudite lawyer, God fearing public servant who reformed and revolutionised the Electoral Commission as its First Female Chairman.”

She adds: You superintended over the best elections ever in 2016. You have made all women in Ghana proud! You served your nation well!!! You are a shinning star and example.

The EC chair, Charlotte Osei, was fired hours ago by the President .

Minister of Information, Dr. Mustapha Hamid, in a statement issued Thursday, June 28, 2018, announced the removal from office of Charlotte Osei and her two deputies- Georgina Opoku Amankwaah and Sulley Amadu- for misbehaviour and incompetence.

The removal is on the recommendation of a committee set up by the Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo to investigate alleged acts of corruption, misconduct and misbehaviour by the three commissioners, the statement indicated.
