Former Ghana forward Patrick Twumasi made an impressive debut for Beitar Jerusalem, scoring in their 3-2 victory over FC Ashdod in the opening match of the Israeli Premier League on Sunday.

Twumasi, who joined Beitar Jerusalem this summer from Cypriot side Paphos FC, found the net just before halftime, opening the scoring after being set up by Russian defender Grigori Morozov.

His goal helped Beitar start their 2024-25 campaign on a positive note at the Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem.

The home side doubled their lead two minutes into the second half when Timothy Muzie scored with an assist from midfielder Adi Yona.

Silva Kani added a third goal for Beitar in the 76th minute, securing the win. FC Ashdod’s goals came from two own goals by Morozov.

In the match, Ghana U20 midfielder Emmanuel Agyei made his debut for Ashdod, starting and playing 69 minutes before being substituted by Jordan Seddan.

Twumasi’s goal marks a successful start to his time with Beitar Jerusalem, with one goal from his first match as he looks to continue his form throughout the season.
