A Division Two side based in Tarkwa Nsuaem, Royal Jet FC have been involved in a fatal motor accident on their return from an away game in the Western Region.

The team who were traveling on a sprinter bus contained players and officials of the team when the accident occurred.

Several players and officials of the team have sustained varying degree of injuries and have been admitted at the Tarkwa Municipal and Huni Valley Hospitals while receiving treatment.

Information as to what brought about the accident remains sketchy as we await the Regional Football Association to issue an official statement as to what caused the accident.

It adds to recent spate of vehicular accidents involving football teams who usually play in the lower tier leagues.

A similar incident claimed the lives of eight young footballers in 2020 at Offinso in the Ashanti Region while another incident at Akrodie junction on the Goaso-Bibiani highway involving third tier side Real Tettekwao which claimed the life of one Fuseinu Mohammed.
