A fire outbreak on Saturday, August 23, 2025, caused extensive damage to a three-bedroom house at Community 1 in Akosombo, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed.

In a statement on Facebook, the GNFS said its Akosombo Fire Station received an emergency call at about 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, reporting the blaze.

A response team led by ADOII Dormah arrived within ten minutes to find the living room and kitchen engulfed in flames.

Firefighters battled the blaze for nearly 90 minutes, bringing it under control by 2:00 p.m. and completely extinguishing it at 2:47 p.m.

However, the fire reignited around 3:45 p.m. in the roof area. The crew returned, put out the flames, and remained at the scene until 4:12 p.m. to prevent further flare-ups.

The incident resulted in the total destruction of the living room, while the kitchen and other sections of the house suffered partial damage.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined as investigations continue.
