Fire Wednesday morning gutted a number of container shops at Odorkor in Accra with residents and other shop owners running helter-skelter to put out the blaze.
Officers of the Ghana National Fire Service were also called to the scene as shop owners tried to salvage what was left of their burning shops.
Prior to the fire, some residents had complained about the stretch of container shops along the road insisting that they have become a nuisance to the area.
They also complained about cargo trucks that park on the road which pose as a threat to children’s safety in the area.
Personnel from the National Disaster Management Organisation were also at the scene to monitor the situation.
So far, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
