A delegation from Manhyia has been at the presidency to officially inform government about the death of Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, whose sad event occurred on Monday, November 14.

The queenmother of the Ashanti Kingdom had reigned for 39 years. Aged 111, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, the 13th queenmother, died peacefully in her sleep.

The delegation from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was received by Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur on behalf of government.

Among the government dignitaries present were Ashanti Region Minister john Alexander Ackon, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah and Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who is also National Democratic Congress’ General Secretary.
