Hopeson Adorye has picked up his nomination forms to contest the Parliamentary seat for the Kpone Katamanso seat on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The hot headed politician has vowed to wrestle the seat from the grasp of the opposition National Democratic Congress when elected as the Parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the NPP.
Hopeson Adorye a long serving member of the NPP has served as an assemblyman and also constituency secretary for the area.
The NPP on July 20, 2019 opened nomination for prospective parliamentary candidates to pick nomination forms to contest in the September parliamentary primaries.
The exercise is expected to end on August 3, 2019. The ruling party hope to add to its tally of 169 seats garnered with 45 more in 2016.
According to Mr Adorye his decision to contest the seat stems from the incessant pressure placed on him by members of the party at the grass roots.
Also incumbent NDC member of Parliament Nii Laryea Afote Agbo is no longer contesting brightening his chances of success.
“Afotey-Agbo was a pillar in Kpone Katamanso so now that he is not contesting again, NPP has a chance and I will win the seat in 2020,” he stated
A member of the pro NPP group the young patriots took part in series of demonstrations that protested the governance style of the then President John Dramani Mahama and its handling of issues of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA).
