Former President Jerry John Rawlings joined hundreds of mourners at the Complex Park, Tema to bid farewell to ace Ghanaian musician Jewel Ackah who died on Friday April 27.

The late musician was known for his popular highlife lyrics and for the National Democratic Congress, he is eulogised for composing the party’s anthem and a host of others that featured on their campaigns.

Colleague musicians, actors and top politicians particularly from the main opposition NDC attended the funeral to mourn with the family and pay their last respect to the highlife legend.

The remains of Jewel Ackah was transported to his hometown, Axim in the Western Region for interment.

Jewel Ackah battled with stroke and other ailments until his death at the age of 73. He left behind 11 Children.

Affectionately called the Prince of Highlife, Jewel Ackah is remembered for songs like ‘Joyce San Bra’, ‘Abena’, ‘Dear, ‘Kyer3 Mase’, ‘Manye Yie’ , ‘Asomdwe Hehe’, ‘Bodambo Bodambo’.
