Concerns have been raised over the condition of buses recently distributed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to the top-performing clubs in the 2023/24 Access Bank Division One League.

Some clubs  have criticized the state of the buses, claiming they were second-hand vehicles with visible defects.

Images and videos circulating on social media depict dilapidated interiors, with one clip purportedly showing the Hohoe United bus broken down on the roadside.

The buses were handed over during a ceremony at the Accra Sports Stadium by GFA President Kurt Simeon-Okraku as part of a merit award initiative aimed at incentivizing high-performing teams.

The initiative was funded by increased revenues from collective efforts and is expected to expand in the future.

Despite the goodwill behind the gesture, the condition of the buses has sparked backlash, with stakeholders questioning the GFA's commitment to quality and the clubs' long-term utility. Beneficiary clubs include:

  • Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs FC

  • New Edubiase United FC

  • Okwawu United FC

  • Young Apostles FC

  • Techiman Heroes FC

  • Basake Holy Stars FC

  • Vision FC

  • Hohoe United FC

  • Victory Club Warriors FC

While some clubs expressed gratitude for the support, others, like New Edubiase United, have voiced disappointment, suggesting that the GFA needs to ensure future investments prioritize durability and value.
