A mammoth demonstration being held by people of Akyem against flag-bearer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) John Mahama has began at Asamankese in the Lower West Akyem Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region.

The demonstration is against comments made by John Mahama and MP for Bolgatanga Central Constituency,Isaac Adongo referring to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as 'Akyem Sakawa Mafia'.

The demonstration started in the wee hours of the morning as chiefs and people from the three Akyem gates have all converged at Asamankese parading through the principal streets.

Thousands of people began converging as early as 6am at the main lorry park .

More people are expected to join the demonstration from other parts of the region.
